. . . and what we have to offer

Yad Moss Snow Slope is run entirely by volunteers and has been for close to 40 years. Facilities at the site have gradually been improved over that period and we now offer outstanding and accessible opportunities to enjoy snow sports in England and every penny we take gets ploughed back to improve the experience.

This video (thanks to Damon Peacock) gives a flavour of the place - conditions are not always this good!

The ski area is served by a fast Poma button tow which is unsuitable for inexperienced skiers and snowboarders. Length 600m:  Vertical rise 120m:  Top Station 725m:  Uplift 600 people per hour.

Depending on snow cover there are up to eight or so runs, half a mile in length, some are prepared by a piste groomer when conditions are suitable. Extensive snow fences help to trap blowing snow. The width of the skiable area can vary from several metres right up to 500m in some places.

(Plan by Peter Thompson)

Depth of snow is highly variable from several centimetres up to more than a metre depending on conditions. The underlying surface is grass and generally free of stones enabling reasonable, if challenging, skiing at times of thin snow cover. In terms of steepness the runs are mostly graded blue but the variety of terrain and conditions can make these some of the most challenging blue runs anywhere !

The stone daylodge provides warmth and shelter for your lunch (we have no catering facilities so bring your own food and drinks) and is equipped with composting toilets.

PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE NO HIRE EQUIPMENT BUT LOOK AT THE EQUIPMENT HIRE PAGE ON THIS SITE.

Car parking is at the side of the road and you may need to dig out a parking bay if there is fresh snow - so bring a shovel and please don't block the road, the snow plough may need to pass and might take your wing mirror with it unless you park with care. There is a steep uphill walk of about 200m (10mins) to the foot of the tow.
